Why Tablets Will Never Replace Laptops


Have you noticed anything on the tablet front recently? Probably not. Outside of a new iPad every year, the media has gone radio silent on tablets — partially because the manufacturers have gone silent regarding innovation in this space.

In fact, just a year after experts were predicting that tablets would replace laptops, Gartner’s final 2014 figures show that tablet sales are slowing while laptop sales are growing — and this is just two years after PC sales seemed to be on a continual downward spiral.

So much for predicting technology trends!

Let’s face it — without any major improvements, people do not have a reason to upgrade their tablets. I had all of the apps I use every day on my iPad 3; the only reason I bought an iPad Air (which was two generations later) was because my iPad’s screen cracked. Read more here…
